  • Radio broadcasting began in India in 1923.
  • Bombay‘s Radio Club had made the country’s initial broadcast in June 1923.
  • After five months of period, Calcutta Radio Club is developed.
  • The Indian Broadcasting Service under the Labor Division and Industries re-entered its function on an industrial scale in April 1930.
  • Indian Broadcasting Company (IBC) was founded on 23 July 1927.
  • The following month, a private radio station was formed as Akashvani Mysore.
  • The Broadcasting Service of the Indian State became AIR on 8 June 1936.

AIR stands for All India Radio as mentioned above and is the national broadcasting division of Prasar Bharati that is owned by the Government of India. AIR has played a crucial role in reaching every corner of our country. It has registered its footprint even in places where newspapers have not reached.   • Between 1940 and 1971, the harmonium, a form of musical instrument, was banned on AIR. The instrument was dubbed un-Indian and considered incapable of handling higher notes
