As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, there are eight recognized planets in our solar system. These planets are:
Mercury
Venus
Earth
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn
Uranus
Neptune
Pluto was formerly considered the ninth planet, but in 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) reclassified it as a dwarf planet. The eight planets orbit the Sun and are part of our solar system. It’s important to note that the classification of celestial bodies may evolve with ongoing astronomical research, and new discoveries could potentially impact our understanding of the solar system’s composition.
