The number of square units required to fill a square is known as its area. In other words, we consider the length of a square's side when calculating its area. The area of a square equals the product of its two sides because both of its sides are equal. Square metres, square feet, square inch, and square cm are popular units for measuring the area of a square.

Other dimensions, such as the diagonal and the perimeter of the square, can also be used to compute the area of a square.

What do you mean by Area of Square?

A square is a two-dimensional closed shape having four equal sides and angles. At the vertices, the four sides of the square form four angles. The perimeter of a square is equal to the whole length of its sides, and the area of the square is equal to the total space filled by the square. It is a quadrilateral with the features shown below.

  1. The opposite sides are parallel.
  2. All four sides are equal.
  3. All angles measure 90°.

Squares can be found everywhere. Here are some examples of square-shaped objects that you may encounter. A square can be found on a chessboard, a clock, a blackboard, or a tile.

The area of a square refers to the amount of space or surface it takes up. Its length is equal to the product of its two sides. Because the area of a square is equal to the product of its two sides, the area unit is square.

The formula of Area of a Square:

When the sides are known, the formula for calculating the area of a square is:

Area of a square = Side × Side = S2

The diagonal of a square can also be used to find the area of a square. When the diagonal is known, the following formula is used to calculate the area of a square:
