About Commutative Property Formula

The commutative property formula is used to manipulate numbers. As a result, any binary operation can be defined as commutative if altering the order of the operands has no effect on the operation's result.

What Is the Commutative Property Formula?

The commutative property states that the final result is unaffected by the order of operands.

Commutative property of addition formula: The commutative property of addition states that changing the order of the addends has no effect on the summation value.

A + B = B + A

Multiplication commutative property formula: The commutative property of multiplication states that the order in which we multiply the integers has no effect on the final result.

A× B = B× A

Verification ofCommutative Property Formula

The commutative property formula will be applied to each of the four basic operations separately.

For Addition: For addition, the generic commutative property formula is a + b = b + a. Let us try to confirm this. (1 + 4) = (4 + 1) = 5 is an example. For the given set of numbers, we say that addition is commutative.

For Subtraction: Subtraction is defined by the generic commutative property formula (A - B) ≠ (B - A). Let us try to confirm this. For instance, (1 - 4) ≠ (4 - 1), or -3 ≠ 3. For the given set of integers, we say that subtraction is not commutative.

For Multiplication: The commutative property for multiplication is A × B = B × A for any pair of two numbers (A, B). For instance, (2 × 4) Equals (4 × 2) = 8 For the given set of numbers, we can see that multiplication is commutative.

For Division: The commutative property for division is given as for any two numbers (A, B), A ÷ B ≠ B ÷ A. For example, (6 ÷ 3) ≠ (3 ÷ 6) = 2 ≠ 1/2. You will find that expressions on both sides are not equal. So division is not commutative for the given numbers

Solved example based on Commutative Property Formula.

Example: If (6 × 4) = 24, then prove(4× 6) also results in 24 using the commutative property formula

Sol:

Since multiplication satisfies the commutative property formula
