About Linear Function Formula

Let's review what a linear equation and a function are before learning the linear function formulas. A linear equation is one in which each component is either a constant or the product of a constant and an exponent 1 variable. A function is a relationship in which each input has a single output. A line is represented by every linear equation. Except for vertical lines, all lines are functions.

What do you mean by Linear Function Formulas?

Depending on the information provided, there are several linear function formulas for determining the equation of a line. The equation of every line may be found using linear function formulas, with the exception of vertical lines, which are not functions. The following are the linear function formulas:

y = mx + b [equation with slope intercept]

y−y1=m(x−x1) [equation with point slope]

Ax + By = C [equation in standard form]

x/a+y/b=1 [ equation in intercept form]

Here,(x, y) in every equation is a general point on the line.

(x1,y1) is any fixed point on the line.

m is slope of the line, can be defined as Rise/Run (or) y2−y1/x2−x1, where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are any two points on line.(a, 0) and (0, b) are the x-intercept and y-intercept respectively.A, B, and C are constants.
