Regular Hexagon Formula

About Regular Hexagon Formula

Hexagons are polygons that have six sides. Regular, irregular, and concave hexagons are three types of hexagons. A hexagon is considered a regular hexagon if all of its sides are equal and the angles are the same. A hexagon has nine diagonals in total. A normal hexagon's internal angles add up to 720 degrees. Every inner angle is also 120 degrees. The outside angle of a regular hexagon is 60 degrees, and the sum of all exterior angles is 360 degrees. The area and perimeter are calculated using the hexagon formula.

What do you mean by Hexagon Formula?

The hexagon formula is a set of formulas for calculating the hexagon's perimeter, area, and diagonals. Regular hexagons are immediately applicable to the hexagon formulae.

Formula for Hexagon

The hexagon formula is as follows:

Hexagonal area:(3√3s2)/2

Here, s is the side length.

Hexagonal Perimeter:6s

Here, s is the side length.

hexagonal Diagonals: 2s and√3s

Here, s is the side length

Area of a hexagon

  1. Make six isosceles triangles out of the hexagon.
  2. Find the area of one of the triangles.
  3. Multiply by 6.

Thus,area:(3√3s2)/2

Perimeter of hexagon

  1. Perimeter of any polygon is the sum of all side lengths.
  2. A regular hexagon has 6 sides. Hence, multiply the side length by 6.

The formula for perimeter of a regular hexagon is, P=6×a

Hexagon Diagonals

  1. In a hexagon, there are 6(6-3)/2 = 9 diagonals
  2. These nine diagonals form in six equilateral triangles.
  3. For longer diagonal, d= 2s, and for shorter diagonal, d = √3s, where s refers to the side of the hexagon.

Hence, the formula for the diagonal of a hexagon is given as, d = 2s, and√3s
