National Institute of Information Technology is the full form of NIIT. NIIT is a multinational educational organization focused on information and computer technology based in Gurgaon, India. It is known primarily for its IT training, but also offers corporate IT solutions. It is among the best computer education providers in India.
It also offers IT certification training including CCNA & NET certification, Java certification etc. NIIT is listed on both NSE (National Stock Exchange) and BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) in India.
History of NIIT
- NIIT was founded in 1981 by IIT Delhi alumni Rajendra S. Pawar & Vijay K. NIIT first developed a franchise model for IT education and by 1987 had established nine centres.
- NIIT started its journey into software in 1986, starting with Software Product Delivery under the Insoft brand.
- The business was reorganized in the year 2004 into two categories called NIIT Limited and NIIT Technologies.
- Baring Private Equity Asia acquired a management stake in NIIT Technologies Ltd in the May 2019.
