The full form of AFA is Air Force Academy.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds the AFA exam as a competitive examination. It is also known as the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). The examination measures the candidate's knowledge in various areas.

Additionally, the selection process evaluates candidates based on their physical fitness and medical standards. As the AFA exam is considered a complex entrance examination, candidates must prepare extensively to pass it.

The exam is administered twice a year, in August and February. It consists of objective-type questions.  This exam is taken online mode. Also, it is a computer-based exam.

How to Qualify for the AFA Exam? - AFA Eligibility

• Education Requirement: The candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects.

However, candidates appearing for the 10+2 examination are also eligible to apply. But they must prove passed the examination at the time of the Interview.

• Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India to appear for the AFA exam.
• Age Limit: Furthermore, candidates must be under 20 years of age to be able to seat for the AFA exam. However, there are certain relaxations in the upper age limit for the SC/ST and OBC candidates.
• Martial Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the AFA exam.
• Physical Standards: In addition, the candidate must be physically fit as per the standards set by the Indian Air Force. 

Also, the minimum acceptable height for male candidates is 162.5 cm, and for female candidates is 148 cm. There are certain other physical perimeters, such as weight, chest measurement, and vision standards, that the candidate must meet as well.

All About the AFA Exam's Structure: AFA Exam Pattern 

1. Written Exam: The written exam consists of two papers, Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Both papers contain objective- questions. Mathematics includes topics such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and statistics. This section is generally of 300 marks. Furthermore, the General Ability Test (GAT) is 600 marks and consists of topics such as English, General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, etc.

2. SSB Interview:  The Services and Selection Board (SSB) interview is conducted for candidates who qualify for the written examination. It consists of two stages, Stage I and Stage II. Additionally, Stage I consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and the picture Perception and Description Test ( PP&DT). Furthermore, Stage II consists of interviews, Group Testing Officer Tasks (GTO), psychology Tests, and conferences. In addition, the interview round is very random. It can assess the candidate based on their attitude, skills, leadership skills, and many other factors. 

Examining AFA: Policies and Rules

The AFA exam follows a specific exam pattern. Therefore, candidates must be aware of the pattern and syllabus before starting the preparation for the exam.

Joining the AFA: Instructions 

1. Candidates who cleared their 12th examination can join AFA through NDA.
2. Additionally, candidates who scored a Senior Division ‘C’ certificate in the Air Wing of the National Cadet Corps. They can apply to the Flying Branch of the Indian Air Force through NCC Special Entry.
3. Candidates who cleared their graduation can apply for the AFA exam. In addition, they can apply through the CDS exam, which is conducted twice a year.
4. Also, male and female candidates can apply through Technical and Ground Duties through the AFCAT exam.
5.  In addition, postgraduate candidates can also join the Metrology Branch.

• First, visit the official site of the USAFA Admission office.
• Then, click on the Apply button to start your application.
• Create an account and complete the online application form.
• Pay the application fee.
• Request official transcripts from your high schools and any college courses you were enrolled in.
• Submit your SAT or ACT scores.
• Complete the candidate fitness assessment (CFA) and submit your results.
• Once complete, submit your application before the deadline.

After you submit your application, it will be reviewed by the USAFA Admission Board if you are selected to move forward in the admission process. They will invite you for an interview and medical examination. If you are offered admission, you must accept or decline the offer within a given time.
