Full form of AIIMS
"All India Institute of Medical Sciences" is the full form of AIIMS. It is an organization of public medical colleges across India established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India. AIIMS's function is to create a high standard of education in the medical education system for UG & PG courses.
History of AIIMS
- AIIMS was established in 1956 on the dream foundation of Jawaharlal Nehru and Amit Kaur. AIIMS was established by an Act of Parliament to serve as a nucleus for promoting success in all areas of healthcare.
- AIIMS provides high-quality education and training facilities.
- In each UG and PG course, AIIMS organizes its education system and awards its degree.
- AIIMS colleges have also been designated as institutes of national importance, and getting admission in one of the AIIMS colleges is a dream for every medical student.
Functions of AIIMS
- It offers a different medical courses; one of them is MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
- It is a world leader in medical science. It has more than 600 research publications from its researchers and faculty within a year.
- It also runs a college of nursing, having B.Sc Hons. Degree in Nursing and runs a 60-bed hospital in Ballabgarh, Haryana.
- AIIMS has twenty-five clinical departments covering all aspects of clinical conditions, including four super specialty centers. However, AIIMS does not deal with infectious diseases and incidents of dog bites.
