Full form of KTM

"Kraftfahrzeuge Trunkenpolz Mattighofen is the full form of KTM". It is an Austrian motorcycle company founded by Hans Trunkenpolz in 1934 in Mattighofen, Austria. In the beginning it was a metalworking workshop.

The English translation for Kraftfahrzeuge is motor vehicles. Later, an entrepreneur named Ernst Kronreif invested in the company, and so the company was renamed Kronreif Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. Over the years it has undergone several development changes and in 2012 became KTM AG. DI Stefan PIERER is CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board of KTM AG. He was appointed until 31 December 2023.

KTM AG is based in Mattighofen, Austria. It is a leading European motorcycle manufacturer that focuses on producing class-leading motorcycles and produces the most competitive motorcycles worldwide, including a wide range of motorized recreational vehicles such as dirt bikes, sports mini bikes, x-bows, street bikes including motorcycles parts and accessories.

Origin

KTM AG (formerly KTM Sportmotorcycle AG) is an Austrian manufacturer of bicycles, motorcycles and sports vehicles jointly owned by Pierer Mobility AG and the Indian company Bajaj Auto. It was founded in 1992, although its roots go back to 1934. KTM AG is now the parent company of KTM Group, which includes several motorcycle brands.

Off-road bikes are what KTM is known for (enduro, motocross and supermoto). It has been building street bikes since the late 1990s and producing sports cars like the X-Bow. In 2015, it sold almost as many city bikes as dirt bikes. Since 2012, KTM has been the largest European motorcycle manufacturer for four consecutive years. The company is one of the world's most famous off-road motorcycle manufacturers. It sold 203,423 motorcycles worldwide in 2016.

  • 1994 - the company began production of the Duke series of road motorcycles.
  • 1995 - KTM took over the Swedish motorcycle manufacturer Husaber AB and also the Dutch company White Power Suspension.
  • 1996 - the company introduced its machines in their signature orange color.
  • 1997 - The highly popular and acclaimed Supermoto and Adventure twin-cylinder liquid-cooled motorcycles were launched.
  • 2007 - KTM X Bow sports car was released. Bajaj Auto of India also bought a 14.5% stake in the company.
  • 2013 - Bajaj now holds a 47.97% stake and KTM acquires Husqvarna from its previous owner BMW, then in the same year KTM reintegrates the Husaberg brand into Husqvarna motorcycles.
  • 2021 - Bajaj became an indirect shareholder of KTM by selling 46.5% of its
