The full form of the LLM is the Legum Magister. It is in Latin terms that describes the master's degree in law. An LLM is commonly considered a Master of Laws. In the field of law, the LLM is an internationally recognized postgraduate study programme. This course is offered in most nations around the world.

Most individuals are not sure about using double L in LLM. Many assume that the two L's define different things, but in the Latin plural it is shortened by repeating the letter. LL defines the possessive plural of the Latin word Lex, meaning a specific law.
