The full form of the SAT is Scholastic Assessment Test. The SAT is a standardized test administered by the College Board and must be taken by students applying for college. Scholastic Assessment Test, formerly known as Scholastic Aptitude Test. The SAT was developed to assess applicants' verbal, math, and writing skills. Applicants who wish to take university courses, especially in Canada and the US, are required to take the SAT.
Eligibility Criteria
- For candidates taking the SAT, the College Board, which is the governing body of the SAT, has not established any clear rules of SAT eligibility.
- Although there is no age limit, studies have shown that candidates in the 17 to 19 age group are among the most likely to take the SAT.
- There is no limit to the number of times an applicant can take the SAT. SAT is held five times a year in India.
- Students who wish to apply for higher education abroad are expected to complete their secondary education in order to progress to the next stage of their studies.
SAT examination structure
The SAT requires sections such as critical reading, math, and writing to assess the knowledge necessary to approach and solve problems.
Applicants must take the SAT II exam at individual universities.
- Test of Reasoning (SAT-I): It is a three-hour multiple-choice test that tests your ability to think verbally and mathematically. SAT-I scoring is required for most universities.
- Subject Test (SAT-II): This is a one-hour multiple-choice test that is used to assess knowledge of specific subjects and the ability to use this understanding. Along with the SAT-I, several universities also require this score.
