About AP SSC Class 10 English Syllabus 2026-27

The Andhra Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (BSEAP) has structured the Class 10 English syllabus for 2026-27 to improve students’ reading, writing, comprehension, grammar, and communication skills. The syllabus is divided into prose, poetry, supplementary reading, grammar, and writing skills.

1. Prose Lessons

1. Personality Development and Human Values-based stories

2. Science and Technology-related lessons

3. Inspirational Biographies of great leaders and reformers

4. Social Awareness and Environmental related lessons

5. Stories and essays that enrich vocabulary and moral understanding

(Usually 8–10 prose lessons are included, covering themes like values, courage, education, and society.)

2. Poetry

1. Poems on nature, love, and patriotism

2. Inspirational poems that highlight courage, kindness, and wisdom

3. Modern poems with simple vocabulary for comprehension

4. Classic English poems for literary appreciation

(About 6–8 poems are prescribed for recitation, appreciation, and analysis.)

3. Supplementary Reader (Non-detailed Text)

• Short stories, biographies, and folktales

• Moral and motivational pieces

• Selected works that encourage imagination and critical thinking

4. Reading Skills

• Comprehension passages (unseen)

• Note-making and summarizing

• Interpreting data from tables, graphs, and charts

5. Grammar

• Parts of Speech (Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Conjunctions, Prepositions)

• Tenses and their usage

• Active and Passive Voice

• Direct and Indirect Speech

• Articles, Prepositions, and Modals

• Degrees of Comparison

• Question tags, Sentence transformation, and Editing

6. Writing Skills

• Letter Writing (Formal and Informal)

• Essay Writing on current and social topics

• Story Writing and Narration

• Paragraph Writing

• Notice, Message, and Diary Entry

• Descriptive Writing (People, Places, Events)

• Dialogue Writing and Expansion of Ideas

• Report Writing and Biographical Sketch

7. Internal Assessment Components

• Listening Skills (listening to passages, answering questions)

• Speaking Skills (role play, speeches, conversations, group discussions)

• Project Work and Assignments

• Reading comprehension tests

• Creative writing tasks
