About AP SSC Class 10 Sanskrit Syllabus 2026-27

The Andhra Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (BSEAP) has designed the Class 10 Sanskrit syllabus for 2026-27 to develop students’ proficiency in the language, including reading, writing, comprehension, grammar, and literary appreciation. The syllabus balances classical literature with practical language skills.


1. Prose (Gadya)

  • Selected stories and essays from classical and modern Sanskrit literature

  • Moral and ethical lessons through short stories and biographies

  • Lessons highlighting social values, human virtues, and cultural heritage

  • Reading comprehension exercises based on prose passages

(Usually 8–10 prose lessons are prescribed.)


2. Poetry (Padya)

  • Classical Sanskrit poems by renowned poets

  • Themes include nature, devotion, morality, courage, and patriotism

  • Focus on recitation, pronunciation, meter (Chandas), and literary devices

  • Analysis and interpretation for better literary understanding

(Approximately 6–8 poems are included.)


3. Grammar (Vyakaran)

  • Sandhi (combining sounds) and Samasa (compound words)

  • Nouns (Subanta), Pronouns (Sarvanama), and Verbs (Kriya)

  • Tenses (Lakara) and Moods

  • Voice: Active (Parasmaipada) and Passive (Atmanepada)

  • Participles (Krdanta) and Conjugations

  • Syntax and Sentence Formation

  • Figures of Speech and Literary Devices


4. Writing Skills (Rachanatmak Lekhan)

  • Paragraph Writing in Sanskrit

  • Letter Writing (Formal and Informal)

  • Story Writing and Narration

  • Translation: Sanskrit to English and English to Sanskrit

  • Dialogue Writing and Conversation Practice

  • Descriptive Writing on People, Places, and Events


5. Supplementary Reader / Additional Texts

  • Short stories, folk tales, and moral narratives

  • Encourages creative thinking and comprehension skills

  • Supports vocabulary enrichment and reading fluency


6. Internal Assessment / Formative Skills

  • Recitation and oral practice of poems and prose

  • Listening and speaking exercises

  • Assignments and project work based on literary themes

  • Comprehension tests and creative writing exercises


Exam Pattern (2026-27)

  • Total Marks: 100

  • Sections:

    • Section A: Reading Comprehension (Prose and Poetry)

    • Section B: Grammar (Sandhi, Samasa, Tenses, Voice, etc.)

    • Section C: Writing Skills (Letters, Essays, Paragraphs, Translation)
