Nationality

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for AFMC Nursing 2025.

Gender

The AFMC Nursing program is open only to female candidates.

Qualification

Candidates must have passed the class 10+2 examination or its equivalent from any recognized board. They should have studied physics, chemistry, and biology in class 12th.

Marks Criteria

Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (40% for reserved categories) in their qualifying exam.

AFMC Nursing Selection Perocess

The selection process for the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Nursing program is designed to ensure that candidates are chosen based on merit at an All India level. Below is a detailed overview of the selection process:

1. Written Examination

• Objective Type Exam: A written objective type examination is conducted annually, typically in February or March. This exam is held at various selected centers across the country, which are announced in advance.
• Content: The examination assesses candidates on various subjects relevant to nursing and medical sciences.

2. Interview

• Shortlisting: Candidates who perform successfully in the written examination will be shortlisted and called for an interview. This interview is usually conducted in April or May at designated centers.
• Evaluation Criteria: The interview assesses candidates' suitability for a career in nursing, including their communication skills, motivation, and overall demeanor.

3. Medical Examination

• Medical Fitness: Candidates must be declared medically fit to be eligible for admission. This assessment is conducted by a Medical Board of Military Medical Officers.

4. Final Selection

5. Commissioning

• Types of Commission: Upon successful completion of the B.Sc. Nursing training, students are granted either a Permanent Commission or a Short Service Commission. The distribution is based on merit, with a ratio of 60:40.
• Short Service Commission Agreement: Candidates opting for the Short Service Commission are required to sign a bond committing to serve in the Military Nursing Service for a minimum period of five years after completing their course.
