Celsius to Fahrenheit

The conversion of temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit is known as Celsius to Fahrenheit. Temperature scales are used to determine how hot or cold a body is. Temperature scales in Fahrenheit and Celsius. On the Fahrenheit scale, water freezes at 32°F and boils at 212°F, but on the Celsius or centigrade system, water freezes at 0°C and boils at 100°C. Fahrenheit is represented by the symbol °F, while Celsius is represented by the symbol °C. As a result, the Celsius to Fahrenheit formula is often known as the C to F formula.

Celsius to Fahrenheit formula

The Celsius to Fahrenheit formula converts a given temperature in degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit. For example, we know that water's freezing point is 0 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Fahrenheit, while its boiling point is 100 degrees Celsius and 212 degrees Fahrenheit. So °F = °C (9/5) + 32 is the formula for converting Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Steps to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit

We'll use the same C to F formula as before to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit. The formula for converting a given

value from C to F is °F = °C (9/5) + 32.

Where C is the degree Celsius (°C) measurement of temperature.

Temperature is measured in degrees Fahrenheit (°F).

We can use the steps below to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit:

  • Step 1: Determine the Celsius temperature value.
  • Step 2: Increase the temperature by 9.
  • Step 3: Multiply the result by 5.
  • Step 4: Increase that number by 32. That is the needed temperature in Fahrenheit (°F).

For example, let us convert 40° Celsius to Fahrenheit: °F = 40 × (9/5) + 32 = 72 + 32 = 104°F. Therefore, 40° Celsius is equal to 104° Fahrenheit (40°C = 104°F).

How we get the above formula

We are already familiar with water's boiling and freezing points at normal pressure on both the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales. We'll use the same method to derive the C to F formula. Water has a freezing point of 32°F and a boiling point of 212°F Fahrenheit. The freezing and boiling points of water (in degrees Fahrenheit) differ by 212 - 32 = 180°F. Water has a freezing point of 0 degrees Celsius and a boiling point of 100 degrees Celsius. The freezing and boiling points of water (in degrees Celsius) differ by 100 - 0 = 100°C.
