About Integers Formulas

Let us review what integers are before studying integer formulas. A number with no decimal or fractional parts is called an integer. The word "integer" comes from the Latin word "integer," which meant "complete." In the next section, we'll go through the integer formulas in depth. 'Z' represents the set of integers, which includes:

  1. Natural numbers only
  2. All natural numbers have negatives.
  3. The digit zero (0)

What do you mean by Integers Formulas?
Integer formulas are formulas/rules that are utilized to perform integer operations. For finding the sum/difference and the product/quotient, the integer formulas differ. The formulas are listed below.

Addition/Subtraction of Integers Formulas
Simply sum the absolute values of two integers with the same sign and use the same sign for the result as the given integers. We subtract their absolute values (in the sequence larger number minus smaller number) and apply the sign of the larger number to the result to combine two integers with different signs. Subtraction is done similarly to addition, but with the formula a - b = a + b. (-b). The following are the integer addition and subtraction formulas:

  • (+) + (+) = +
  • (−) + (−) = -
  • (−) + (−) = + The absolute value of positive number is bigger)
  • (+) + (−) = - (The absolute value of negative number is bigger)

Multiplication/Division of Integers Formulas
The product/quotient of two integers with the same sign is always positive, while the product/quotient of two integers with opposite signs is always negative. Integer multiplication and division formulas are as follows:

  • (+) × (+) = +
  • (+) ÷ (+) = +
  • (−) × (−) = +
  • (−) ÷ (−) = +
  • (+) × (−) = -
  • (+) ÷ (−) = -
  • (−) × (+) = -
  • (−) ÷ (+) = -

Note: Under addition and multiplication, the set of integers is closed, associative, and commutative. The set of integers contains both the additive and multiplicative identities, 0 and 1. The set of integers contains the additive inverses of all integers. Except for 1 and -1, none of the integers has multiplicative inverses in the set of integers.
