Ans: In the first clock, the hour hand is at 3 and the minute hand is at 12. So, it is 3:00. Therefore, Pinki is correct in the first case.

In the second clock, the hour hand has passed 5 and the minute hand is at 7. So, it is 5:35. Therefore, Pinki is correct in the second case.

In the third clock, the hour hand has passed 7 and the minute hand is at 3. So, it is 7:15. Therefore, in the third case also Pinki is right.

Ans: Muniya was born on 5 March 2005 and she got her first tooth on 15 September 2005. From 5th March to 5th September it is 6 months and from 5th September to 15th September there is only 10 days. Thus, when Muniya got her first tooth she was 6 months and 10days old.

11.How old was Muniya, when

Ans: Muniya first sat up on 10th November 2005. From 5th March to 5th November there is 8 months and from 5th November to 10th November it is 5 days. Thus, when Muniya first sat up she was 8 months 5 days old.

(b)she got her first tooth?

Ans: When Muniya got her first tooth she was 6 months and 10 days old.

12.What did she do first?

(1)walking/eating a banana?

Ans: Muniya started walking on 2 February 2006 and started eating bananas after 7 months, that is on 5 September 2005. Thus, Miniya started walking first.

(2)crawling/standing?

Ans: Muniya started crawling on 20th November 2005 and she started walking on 5 January 2006 that is after 2 months. Thus, Muniya started crawling first and then after 2 months she started walking.

Muniya started eating on 5th September 2005. From 5th March to 5th September there are 6 months. So, the age of Muniya when she started eating

= 6 months.

Muniya got her tooth = 15th September 2005. From 5th March to 5th September there is 6 months and from 5th September to 15th September it is 10 days.

So, the age of Muniya when she got her first tooth = 6 months 10days.

14.How long did it take the letter to reach from Ajmer to Nagpur?

Ans: Atif wrote the letter on 1 May 2006 and the letter reached Shabana on 6 May 2006. Thus, the letter took 5 days to reach Shabana.

Ans: Atif is going to his Nani’s place on 5th and returning back on 20th of the same month. Thus, Atif will spend 15days at his Nani’s place.

17.On 15 May 2006 Chandran went to a shop to buy butter. He checked the packet to see if this butter was safe to eat. It was written on the packet -Best before 180 days from the date of packing. Then he checked the date of packing. It was 15/01/06. Help him find out if he should buy this butter or not.

In which month was the butter packed?

Which month will it be from the date of joining? 180 days after 15/01/06?

Can Chandran eat it one 15th May 2006?

Ans: Best before 180 days was written on the packet and butter was packed on 15th January.

Thus, 180 days after 15th January is: Days left in January = 17 Days There is 28 Days in February.

There are 31 Days in March. There are 30 Days in April.

There are 31 Days in May. And in June there are 30 Days.

So total 17 + 28 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 30 = 167 days till June. Then there are 13 days remaining in July.

Thus, it is best to use before 13th of July 2006.

19.Suppose a train leaves at 8:30 at night. The time written on the Railway ticket would be .

Ans: If the train leaves at night at 8:30 then the time would be 8:30 p.m. So the time written on the railway ticket would be = 12:00 + 08:30 = 20:30
