Brief Introduction to Chapter 10 Visualizing Solid Shapes.

You learned about plane shapes and solid shapes in Class VII. Plane shapes have only two dimensions: length and breadth, and are often referred to as two-dimensional shapes, whereas solid objects have three dimensions: length, breadth, height, and depth. As a result, they are referred to as three-dimensional shapes. A solid thing also takes up space. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional figures are referred to as 2-D and 3-D figures, respectively. You may recall that 2-D figures such as triangles, rectangles, and circles are two-dimensional, and three-dimensional figures such as cubes, cylinders, cones, and spheres are three-dimensional.
