Full form of DHT

The full form of DHT is Dihydrotestosterone. It is a sex hormone that is also known as androstanolone or stanolone. This hormone stimulates male characteristics, but it is produced by both sexes, men and women. DHT is the one that regulates neurological health, physical changes and blood cell formation. So DHT is very important for our health.

Properties of DHT

  • DHT is insoluble in water or in water repellent, that is, it is Hydrophobic in nature. But it is soluble in some organic compounds and also some fats and oils. 
  •  It is a compound is actually synthesized by consecutive Friedel – Crafts reactions of CCl3CHO (chloral) and C6H5Cl (Chlorobenzene) in presence of Sulphuric acid.
  • It is also found in multiple forms like solutions in xylene or granules, aerosols, and emulsifiable concentrates. And in case of it’s usage as an insecticide it is available in solid crystal form.

Chemical properties of DHT

  • The chemical properties of DHT include a melting point of 108.5 degree celsius and a boiling point of 260 degrees Celsius. 
  • The molar mass of DHT is 354.48 grams per mole. 
  • It has a density of 0.99 grams per centimetre cube.

 Physical properties of DHT

 It is a colourless, tasteless, and odorless chemical compound that is in white colour and it is a solid – crystalline compound When used as an insecticide or pesticide for soil to eradicate pests.

Uses of DHT

It is used as an insecticide to eradicate insects and pests that spoil soil fertility. And another important use is it was used for malaria control, eradicating insect borne diseases like typhus, etc.
