Full form of ACC

The Full Form of ACC  is the Associated Cement Company. ACC is one of India's leading manufacturers of ready-mix concrete and cement. It has an extensive network chain across the country, with over 50,000 dealer networks. ACC's subsidiaries include ACC Concrete Ltd Bulk Cement Corporation, Encore Cements & Additives Pvt. Ltd and Lucky Minmat National Limestone Co Ltd. In 2006, the company was renamed ACC Limited. ACC is the only cement company in India to get super brand status.

Associated Cement Companies, abbreviated as ACC, was established in Mumbai. ACC is one of the largest cement plants and India's oldest, owned and operated by the Tata group of companies. ACC was formed when 10 existing cement companies came together in a merger in 1936. These companies belonged to the Tata, Khataus, Killick Nixon, and F.E. groups. Dinshaw. F. E. Dinshae is considered the pioneer of ACC, whose efforts led to the founding and ultimately the historic merger to create the giant cement company.  Shri Nowroji B Saklatvalaand was the first Chairman of ACC.acc full form

History of ACC

  • ACC Ltd was formed as The Associated Cement Companies Ltd in August 1936 by merging ten existing cement plants.
  • In 1944, it established India's first completely indigenous cement plant at Chaibas in Bihar.
  • In 1956, it set up a cement depot in Okhla, New Delhi.
  • It established the Central Research Station in Thane in the year 1965.
  • It acquired the Cement Marketing Company of India in 1973.
  • In 1978, it introduced pre-calciner technology in India.
  • It commissioned its first 1 MPTA plant at Wadi in Karnataka in the year 1982. It also established Bulk Cement Corporation of India through a joint venture with Govt. India in the same year.
  • The house of TATA was associated with the company till 1999. It sold its 7.2% stake in ACC to Ambuja Cement Holdings Ltd in 1999 and the remaining stake to Gujarat Ambuja Cements Ltd.
  • IDCOL Cement Ltd became a subsidiary of the company in the year 2003, renamed Bargarh Cement Ltd in 2004.
  • In 2004, the Superbrands Council of India recognized it as a Consumer Superbrand.
  • In 2006, Bargarh Cement Ltd, Damodhar Cement & Slag Ltd, and Associated Cement Companies Ltd were renamed ACC Ltd, and Tarmac (India) Ltd merged with the company, with effect from September 1, 2006.
  • In 2008, its concrete business was spun off into a new subsidiary called ACC Concrete Ltd.
  • It established ACC Cement Technology Institute at Jamul on July 7, 2008.
  • In September 2009, it installed a coal washer in Jamul.
  • In 2010, it commissioned a 2.5 MW wind turbine project in Maharashtra.
  • In 2011, it received ISO 9001-2008 certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) AS Certification Services.

Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Development

Under the Tata group of companies, ACC cares about its employees and constantly strives to prevent accidents and mishaps. Conducts monthly safety audits and encourages workers always to take safety precautions. A safety sign has been installed at the workplace. It does not neglect waste material from production plants and offers unique solutions for optimal use. It also uses alternative fuel sources for sustainable development.

The company also takes care of neighbouring villages and tribal communities. It looks after the population's health, education, and holistic development while ensuring the safety, hygiene, and protection of local artisans.

Corporate Social Responsibility by ACC

ACC has a comprehensive CSR program and was the first to receive the ASSOCHAM award in 1976. ACC has a team of young CSR specialists who look after the neighboring communities and tribes, looking after their education and health. They also have a robust village welfare system that looks after hygiene, and health care and protects the crafts of local artisans.
