Full form of NCERT

The full form of NCERT is National Council for Educational Research and Training. NCERT is an autonomous organization of the Government of India. NCERT was established in 1961 and was a literary, scientific and charitable society under the Societies Registration Act. The organization is headquartered in New Delhi. All CBSE affiliated schools follow NCERT syllabus only. There are also many state boards as per NCERT syllabus and textbooks.

Regional institutes of education

Regional Institute of Education, RIE is part of NCERT. RIE, then RCE, was set up by the Government of India in 1963 to cover various regions of the country. There are 5 RIEs in India.

NCERT Study Materials

History

It was established in 1961 as an advisory body to the Government of India. The main objective of NCERT is to support and advise the federal and state governments on policies and programs aimed at improving the quality of school education.

In 1974, the Council was registered as a company under the Companies Registration Act, 1860. NCERT is headquartered in New Delhi with regional offices in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysore and Shillong. It has the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) which functions as the apex body for educational planning and administration in India.

The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005 was the first national framework for school education in India. It lays down the broad framework and principles that should guide school education from I to XII. classes across all councils in the country. NCF 2005 was revised and updated in 2010 and is currently being implemented in schools.

NCERT has also developed a large number of textbooks, teachers' manuals and other teaching material for primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary education. It widely used in schools not only in India but also in other countries where the Indian diaspora is present. NCERT has also conducted major research studies in the field of school education.

Objectives of NCERT

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was established in November 1961. The main objective is to support and advise the federal and state governments on policies and programs to improve the quality of school education.

The Council plays a key role in the development and implementation of various school education programmes, including the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005, Textbook Development, Teacher Education, Capacity Building of Teaching Officers, National Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS), National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), A national study on various aspects of school education. NAS conducted by the Council in collaboration with the Science Olympiad (NSO), National Cyber ??Olympiad (NCO) and the Student Achievement Tracking System (SATS).

The Council also conducts surveys and studies on various aspects of school education, collects and analyzes data related to educational development and renders consultancy services on the request of Central and State Governments, national and international agencies. The council also collaborates with national and international agencies to support educational research.
