Full Form Of UPSC CSAT

Union Public Service Commission, Civil Service Aptitude Test, is the full form of UPSC CSAT.

The UPSC CSAT test is given as the Civil Services Exam by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). To evaluate a candidate's suitability for the civil service. The CSAT exam was introduced in 2011.

Additionally, because the CSAT is a qualifying exam, candidates must pass it with a minimum qualifying score. This is done to move on to the next round of the Civil Services Examination. 

However, the marks obtained in the CSAT are not considered for the final ranking of the candidates. The final ranking is based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Personality Test.

CSAT Exam Pattern: Exam Structure and Sections

The CSAT is a qualifying exam that tests the candidate's analytical and comprehension skills, decision-making ability, and other skills. It comprises two papers:

1. General Studies

This paper tests the candidate’s knowledge of current events, Indian history and economy, science, and many more.

Additionally, this 200-point exam has 100 questions and takes two hours to complete. It is a multiple-choice test. The syllabus covers subjects like current events of national and international significance, Indian history, and many more.

2. CSAT ( Civil Service Aptitude Test)

This paper tests the candidate’s aptitude in comprehension, interpersonal skills, logical reasoning, and basic numeracy and data interpretation skills.

This section lasts for two hours and consists of 80 MCQs worth 200 points.

Candidates must earn a minimum of 33 percent on Paper II to advance to the next exam round. Finally, the candidates are ranked according to their performance on Paper I. It is weighted according to merit.

In conclusion, Paper I and Paper II make up the UPSC CSAT. Paper II is a qualifying paper, and candidates must receive a qualifying mark to advance to the Civil Services. Also, Paper, I am writing a general studies paper.

CSAT Eligibility Criteria

• Education Requirement: 

The applicant must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering from a reputable college or university. Also, candidates awaiting the final result can appear for the UPSC prelims.

• Nationality

Candidates taking the UPSC CSAT exam must also be Indian citizens, Nepalese, Bhutanese, or Tibetian refugees. In addition, they must have entered India before January 1962, intending to settle there permanently.

• Age Limit: 

Furthermore, candidates should be between 21 and 32 years of age. However, age relaxation is provided for specific categories as per government rules. 

Additionally, candidates belonging to SC/ST category are relaxed for up to five years. Also, OBC candidates are given a relaxation of up to three years.

• Attempts: 

Candidates can apply for the CSAT exam six times. The general category candidate's maximum age is 32 years old. 

However, candidates belonging to OBC can apply up to nine times. Also, there are no restrictions based on the minimum number of attempts for candidates from the SC/ST Caste.

How to Apply for UPSC Exams

• Visit the official website of UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission). 
• Click on the Online Application for various Examinations of UPSC link on the home page.
• On the next page, select the Civil Services Examination Preliminary option.
• Then click the Apply now button. 
• Now, fill in the required details.
• Also, upload the scanned photograph and signature.
• Finally, submit the form and pay the application fee.

In addition, pay the application fee through any available online modes and take a printout of the confirmation page.

UPSC CSAT: Number of Attempts

The CSAT examination can be applied for a maximum of six times by candidates who fall under the general category.

Additionally, candidates who fall under the OBC category are allowed nine CSAT exam attempts. Also, they are given relaxation on the number of attempts. 

However, there is no minimum number of attempts requirement for SC/ST candidates. Therefore, they may take the CSAT exam as often as necessary until they reach the UPSC-imposed age restriction.

CSAT Difficulty: How Difficult is the CSAT Exam?

The difficulty level of the UPSC CSAT exam varies from candidate to candidate, depending on their preparation and knowledge.

Additionally, the exam tests a candidate's analytical and reasoning skills and comprehension, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Due to the competition, the extensive syllabus, and the type of questions, the exam may require more work for some applicants. 

However, candidates can overcome these difficulties and perform well on the exam with the proper preparation and direction.

In conclusion, the UPSC CSAT exam is moderate to strenuous but manageable. Every year, many candidates pass the test with a high score. It only needs a solid foundation in the fundamentals, consistent practice, and strategic planning.

UPSC CSAT: Marking Scheme

The CSAT exam has 80 questions, and candidates have two hours to complete it. Each question is worth 2.5 points, for a total of 200 points. However, the Candidate must be aware that the CSAT exam carries a negative marking. 

Additionally, one-third of a mark will be subtracted for each incorrect response. Finally, if a candidate chooses not to answer a question, they will receive a score of zero.

In conclusion, to qualify for the next stage, candidates must pass the exam. Also, because the paper will have a negative marking, candidates must carefully fill out every choice.

UPSC CSAT: Exam Fee

The UPSC CSAT exam has a minimal examination fee. However, candidates in the General Category and OBC must pay a one-time application fee of Rs. 100.

However, there is no fee for the female category candidates and the SC/ST candidates.

In addition, the fee mentioned above is for the CSAT exam only. Therefore, candidates who pass the CSAT exam and are qualified to take the Main exam must pay an additional fee.
