About UP Board Class 10 Social Science Syllabus

Social Science in UP Board Class 10 is a compulsory subject and covers History, Geography, Civics, and Economics. The subject is designed to give students knowledge of India’s past, geographical features, political system, and economic development.

The syllabus not only helps in board exams but also lays the foundation for competitive exams by improving general knowledge and awareness about society.

Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

The Social Science paper is of 100 marks, divided equally among four subjects:

  • History (25 marks)

  • Geography (25 marks)

  • Civics (25 marks)

  • Economics (25 marks)

The exam consists of both objective and descriptive questions. Maps and diagrams are an important part of the paper, especially in Geography.

Preparation Tips

  • Read NCERT-based textbooks carefully, as most questions are directly from them.

  • Practice map work in Geography regularly.

  • Write short notes for History chapters to memorize dates and events.

  • Focus on current issues in Civics and Economics for better understanding.

Social Science requires consistent revision and understanding of concepts rather than rote learning. With proper preparation, scoring above 80 marks in this subject is achievable.
